Walmart and Electrode Native: Walmart’s Tech Race

Walmart and Electrode Native: Walmart’s Tech Race

I don’t like Walmart. Because I don’t like how they bullied so many small businesses out of jobs. But I got to show some respect for Walmart, especially their rise in IT support. This is Walmart and Electrode Native: Walmart’s tech race.

But first, let’s start with React Native. It is Facebook’s creation for creating apps in JavaScript. They created this tool to be make app building easier. Also, React Native is a third party that you can use in native apps. So where do Walmart and Electrode Native fit in this narritive?

First of all, it will help bring React Native to native apps on Apple and Android products. Furthermore, this includes the Walmart app. That is what Electrode Native does. It lets mega companies like Walmart take codes from their old apps. Then, they can mix the codes into React Native. But before this, they had to rewrite the whole code, or do major changes to them. But now, developers can write code once. Then, React Native can update the code without using a new version of the old app.

So back to Walmart and Electrode Native. Walmart app developers tested this out on the shopping cart mobile app. So far, so good. Then, they changed the Thank You page. It’s now in the checkout page. So when some peoplt think of Walmart, I know a lot of stereotypes come to mind. Don’t let them fool you. Amazon is getting really good in computer servicing. Well on their end, as far as coding and software. So I do respect them there. They know they need to do it, too. If they’re going to compete with Amazon, Ebay, and other online conglomerates, they need the best software techs and software developers they can get. Will Walmart and Electrode Native help them in this race? And will it encourage you to buy from Walmart?

Android Wear Glitches: So Bad Timing

Android Wear Glitches: So Bad Timing

The past several days are not good for Android/Google. Last weekend, they fought a spyware that got into your device. Then, I read about a glitch that messes up reminders. Android Wear Glitches: This is so bad timing.

This glitch is in the Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch. Smartwatch owners, not Android leaders, complain of bugs messing up the software. Furthermore, some say recent updates are causing these Android wear glitches. And then there are the watches that hardly work at all. All you can do is basic Internet searches like on an old PC. But some say these glitches won’t even let you control your timer.

But this isn’t the first or only problem with Android Wear 2.0. Many complain of their watch making false reminders. Customers thought Android fixed the problem with a patch. But apparently not. Because owners still claim some of their reminders are still missing. So some may say, “Oh, that’s just a minor thing. That’s nothing”. This is more serious than you think. What if you miss a job interview or deadline because your smartphone reminder doesn’t work? Worse yet, what if you forget to take your critical medication because your reminders were acting up? Now some may say, “They should remember that stuff anyway”. But remember how attached we are to smart technology today.

Google assures the public they’re fixing this Android wear glitches. They insists they the glitches will be repaired soon. But I think this is falling on deaf ears. How may times do they hear this? And yet, this is happening again and again. In computer repair, if people have the same mistakes over and over, then people get suspicious. The timing is so bad. Because the smartwatch business already isn’t doing so hot. Then, Apple is coming out with their smartwatch soon. Will the Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch survive?

Goodbye Windows App Studio: So What’s Next

Goodbye Windows App Studio: So What’s Next

Do you use Microsoft’s Windows App Studio? Well, those days are almost over. Goodbye Windows App Stdio: So what’s next?

Because yesterday, Friday June 30, Microsoft announced the end for this app development system. Starting July 15, only existing users will be able to use the old Windows studio. That means you only have two weeks to sign up for a system that’s going to shut down anyway. Then on September 15, the editor stops. So you won’t be able to correct anything. Furthermore, on December 1, Windows App Studio will shut down for good and forever. That’s the end.

However, they’re not taking long to replace it. In fact, the replacement’s name is Windows Template Studio. It’s their new app maker. They basically changed their code generation and existing wizard. They claim it to be a great tool to create Windows mobile phone apps. It also supports all desktop Windows, including Windows 10. It’s also an extension of their Visual Studio. And you won’t be paying any extra for this new service. The Windows Act Studio is free and you can use it with?free Visual Studio 2017 Community Edition.

But will Windows Template Studio help Windows Phone compete in the smartphone market? I ask this because Windows App Studio sure didn’t. Some who have come and gone in our Boston computer service shop game Windows App Studio a try. Nobody ever said they hated it. But nobody ever rang out it’s praises either. They sew Template Studio is less complex. I hope so because do you know how many people are making phone apps these days? Or should I say, trying to make phone apps? You never know who might come up with the next big thing. Maybe Windows Template Studio will help out with that. But will this new software help out Windows in the smartphone race?

Google Stops Controversial Ad Promotion

Google Stops Controversial Ad Promotion

There is a Google ad campaign that concerns a lot of people. So there are ads inside Gmail that can read other emails, no matter how personal or intimate. But thanks to Google Cloud, that stops. Google stops controversial ad promotion.

So Google Cloud comes up with software they call G Suite. They sell it to Gmail users. So if you get this software, you don’t get email scanning and invading ads. Sounds great, right? But some customers are still unclear of the privacy consequences. Google cloud assures Gmail users protection of their privacy. However, don’t expect the pesky ads to stop.

But this time, they won’t scan or dig into your emails. Instead, they will use information Google has of you, like your maps, searches, and You Tube videos. For example, you search travel sites a lot. You also watch a lot of travel videos on You Tube. Then you can expect a whole lot of travel sponsors to bombard you with advertising. Google Cloud VP Diane Greene announced the change yesterday, Friday, June 23. She says G Suite already has 3 million customers. These are mostly business customers. The number of G Suite users doubled just in the past year. And yes, you do have to pay for this service.

But to me, it seems like a great investment. I can see why so many businesses get this software. No company, whether it’s computer repair, restaurant, or construction, wants their business matters spread out for the whole world to see. They have just as much a right to privacy as individuals and families do. And scanning emails can easily threaten that right to privacy. In fact, this new is better because it reads what the business is into. Therefore, an ad can actually provide the services the business need. And the ad makes sale. Now, both companies are happy. I don’t think too many people were happy with the old way. So Google stops controversial ad promotion. Is this a good move?

Happy Birthday GIF

Happy Birthday GIF

Yesterday was a horrible day. We had shootings in Alexandria, VA and San Francisco. Then we had an inferno in London. There was also a deadly mudslide in Bangladesh. But I’m here to talk happy news. As in happy birthday GIF.

So GIF means Graphics Interchange Format. On June 15, 1987, Steve Wilhite created the GIF. In 1987, he worked at CompuSave. The company asked him to make color images for files people can download. So in 1987, he came up with GIF. But it didn’t really take off until 1995, when the Internet started to take off. It got the loop ability, making it popular. It also helps that at this time, CompuSave was the first major ISP.

So for 15 years, GIF’s popularity went up and down. But it really skyrocked since 2010, thanks to social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp. They’re fun to send in text messages too. Let’s look at how popular GIF’s are in today’s society. People send 25,000 GIFs every minute. In fact, the number of these photos tripled in the past year. Facebook is getting into the Happy Birthday GIF spirit. They’re rounding up twenty Internet stars, people You Tubers Logan Paul and musicians DNCE. They’ll be others. You can even cast a vote about how you pronounce GIF. Happy birthday GIF!

But about this debate though. It even goes on in our Boston computer service shop. I pronounce it Jif (like the peanut butter). But other collegues and customers insists it’s pronounced with a hard G. The world may never know. However, we can thank Steve Wilhite for changing the computer landscape forever. Everyone in computer repair uses the GIF. Come to think of it, most people outside of computer service use the GIF. They’re fun, easy to communicate with, and at times, can be powerful. So Happy Birthday GIF. What’s your favorite GIF moment?

Introducing the 10.5 Inch iPad Pro and iOS 11

Introducing the 10.5 Inch iPad Pro and iOS 11

I called it. The Apple World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) is happening this week. Now I say this because they display the highly anticipated new iPad Pro. Here is introducing the 10.5 inch iPad Pro and iOS 11.

The 10.5 inch iPad Pro will be available June 13. Also, this one gives you 64 GB of space. But it will cost you extra: $649. However, you get a various choice of colors, like silver, space grey, and rose gold. People brag about this screen, but it’s the keyboard that takes everyone’s breath away. That’s because the 10.5 inch comes with a full size keyboard. That’s right. It should be just as easy to type it this iPad pro as it is with a laptop!

Then there’s the iOS 11 software, which makes just as big as an impression. So the first thing that got me was the Siri, and the new things Siri can do. Siri now comes in a man and a woman’s voice. However, is English not your major tongue? Or are you trying to learn another language? Siri can help. Because Siri translates English to Spanish, Chinese, German, and a few others. Apple Maps stepped up their game as well. They now have maps to guide you through airports, shopping malls, and other indoor facilities. That’s just introducing the 10.5 inch iPad Pro and iOS 11.

So why cover this? Well, in my Boston computer service shop, we have quite a few Apple customers. And some of them are loyal Apple customers. In fact, one of them keeps up with the WWDC conference like we used to keep up with daytime soap operas. And so far, they seem to be on a great start. People inquired about the 10.5 inch iPad Pro. And they delivered. They’re really delivering with this keyboard. Some experts say this doesn’t replace the laptop, but I don’t know. It very well could. It’s about time they made Siri more human. Also, Siri provides a great way to learn language. I’m not sure about the indoor maps yet, but I’m sure someone will need them. What do you think of the conference so far?
