Next IPad May Model Thin Light Mini

Next IPad May Model Thin Light Mini

What will the iPad 5 look like? When will it come out? There’s lots of speculation. But much of the speculation say it will be as thin as the iPad Mini.

It’s expected the next iPad will have a touch screen technology, also like the iPad Mini. They’re banking on lightning striking twice with the iPad 5. Film based touch panel technology has become extremely popular, as they can combat technical disadvantages better. If this continues to be successful, with the influence and power Apple has, more computer devices could go the thin touch screen route. And the tablet market is intensely competitive, especially from Android, though it still leads the market. Of course, Apple leaders and employees won’t comment.

I don’t have an iPad Mini, but I see why this kind of technology is so popular and powerful. As the owner of an iPod Touch, I love how thin it is and how I can control the apps, channels, keyboard?and volume with the tip of my finger. I love how I can carry this device in my pocket and it’s razor thinness. We don’t know when the iPad 5 is coming out, hopefully sooner than later.?Are you?more?of a fan of the bulky or the thin technology?

Whats App: The Quiet Rising Star

Whats App: The Quiet Rising Star

Don’t you love a good small business story? I have one for you. There’s a system called Whats App; it’s an instant messenger application service for smartphones. It’s 4 years old, but it has the success of a grown business!

As of today, Whats App has over 300 million monthly active users. They now send and receive over 30 million messengers a day. Their users share 325 million photos a day. Now they’re unveiling a push to voice messaging for all smartphones, from iPhones to Android. With this app, a user pushes a?button and records the message. The message is sent when the button is let go. There’s no length for the time or volume of the message. There’s a blue cartoon that tell you when the message is played. If you don’t send, just swipe it to the left and it will be deleted. Oh, it goes to speaker mode when your phone’s at arm’s length!

I love stories like these! Did I mention?Whats App has only 45 employees? And in 4 years, it’s grown to this. In an era where?tech companies are being bought?out or forced to shut down, this guys are going strong. I’m sure this messaging will make them even stronger.?Do we have a?future major technical conglomerate on our hands?

Top 10 Back to School Gadgets

Top 10 Back to School Gadgets

It’s August. I know, summer’s not over yet, but it is the back to school shopping season. I know many of you don’t want to hear that, but I’d like to help prepare you with some great gadgets for this upcoming academic year.

10. Laptop Lock: You’ll need this in the worse way. This won’t just protect you from theft, but what if someone hacks into your system and starts real problems?

9. Noise Cancelling Headphones: While your roommate and friends are blasting that so-called music, you’re going to want these.

8. Microsoft Explorer Touch Mouse: It’s not your ordinary mouse. It’s sleek, wireless, fast, smooth, and runs longer than the Energizer bunny ever did.

6. Dragon Software: I would bargain my soul to have software like this! You can talk into it and the dragon does your documents for you?! Kids today have it too good sometimes.

1. Mac Book Pro: No more using a chalkboard! Using this Mac Book to teach history, math, writing and reading has almost become standard. Using Mac Book Pro for paper and project is the wave of the future.

Which device have I left out?

Facebook Reaches 100 Million Phone Users

Facebook Reaches 100 Million Phone Users

I see it all the time, even when going out with family and friends. In the midst of loud music and conversation, someone pulls out their device and either posts or takes a picture on Facebook. I’ve done it myself. Apparently, I’m not the only one.

Announced yesterday, there are now 100 million people who use Facebook on their phone on a monthly basis. They made an interesting statement about developing nations like India, Philippines and Indonesia. According to their own statement, many in nations like these can get the app on?a 20 dollar cell phone. It goes on to say the Facebook app reaches 3,000 different?phones. They can do this by?using less data than most Java apps. They also have Facebook for Every Phone, a program powered by Snaptu, an Israeli based technology company. What Snaptu does is use servers to study how mobile apps work, and use this knowledge to help Facebook get on low end phones.

So that’s how they do it. It’s a good strategy. Many people in developing nations can’t afford the hundred of dollars smartphones and other devices (like iPod Touch). So if Facebook can get their app on cheaper devices, I say more power to them. It makes good business sense. Socially, it can put a damper on things. Can you imagine people in these countries spending dinner hour keeping up with Facebook friends instead of conversing with their own family? Isn’t there enough of that in this country?

Apple and Hop Stop?

Remember when Apple Maps was released? Remember what a disaster that was? At first you don’t succeed, try again, or in this case, just buy another company.

It looks like Apple is acquiring Hop Stop. Hop Stop is a website that tracks public transit in cities across the US, Canada and some places in Europe. For me, it especially helps when I’m traveling in other cities. It’s great for getting?one from point A to point B, especially?for?one on foot, bus?or subway. It even tells you when the next bus is coming. ?Also included is Locationary Inc., which focuses on business-based maps. Apple hopes to?ease up their relations with?Google maps. Google maps are the most popular free app at the App Store. Hop Stop is one of the most popular free navigation apps.

I tell Apple now, if this acquisition does go through, don’t spoil a good thing! Hop Stop is fine the way it is; I speak that on experience.?I’ve seen other examples of how corporate takeover of a smaller entity ruins the smaller entity. I hope that doesn’t happen here.?I see and respect why Apple wants to make this purchase; just don’t mess it up. Will Hop Stop make Apple a star in the mapping game?

Apple Frantically Hires for I-Watch

Apple Frantically Hires for I-Watch

First came the iPod. Then came the iPhone, iPad and IPod Touch. Apple is now desperate to put together the iWatch. They’re ‘aggressively’ hiring firms, experts and other individuals in a hurry to get this creation off the ground.

If all goes well, expect iWatch to be on the shelves by late 2014. Apple is depending on outsiders’ expert as well as their own best and brightest. Apple has hired over 100 designers to put together this watch. They’ve studied devices like Nike Fuel Brand. Apple wants to put some kind of fitness system on their watch. One expert Apple is hiring is Yves Saint?Laurent?former CEO Saint Paul Deneve. Keep in mind Saint Laurent is one of the biggest names in luxury fashion and design. He’s also worked on several other luxury names like Nina Ricci. Deneve has been asked to work on special projects; we just don’t know what they are.

Neither do we know which designers are chosen to work on this watch, other than those just mentioned. I guess Apple knows you can’t have an iWatch without having a fitness device. That’s a good start.?And how?about a major luxury designer being involved? This tells me this watch is going to attract certain people…wealthy people. Don’t expect it to come cheap. I’m also looking for apps to attract a wealthier class of people…who like working out. But I’m just wondering who the other designers are. Will you be looking forward to an iPhone or should I just stick to my Nike watch?
