The new Angry Birds Space edition of the wildly popular Angry Birds game is not on any Windows Phone platform.? Now it isn?t because there is a big undertaking to support the coding of the application.? They would have rewrite the entire application.? Something like this is no good news for Nokia who is putting their eggs in the Microsoft phone basket.? Not having Angry Birds on the Windows platform of phone only will make things more difficult for the phone sales, as this type of game is a big seller with many people.? From young to old, everyone enjoys playing angry birds and to not have it on the Windows phone system is not a good thing, that?s for sure.
?This is a worrying development for Windows Phone because it suggests that Rovio does not have much confidence in its future,? Nomura analyst Richard Windsor said today in a report. ?As the standard version is already number one on the Windows Phone app store, it gives a strong indication that no one else will expect to be making money writing for this platform either.?
The going through all of the news in the tech world today, I read that the Associated Press reported that some employers are actually asking applicants for their Facebook usernames and passwords which to me makes no sense but here is part of the article.
?Since the rise of social networking, it has become common for managers to review publically available Facebook profiles, Twitter accounts and other sites to learn more about job candidates. But many users, especially on Facebook, have their profiles set to private, making them available only to selected people or certain networks.
Companies that don’t ask for passwords have taken other steps ? such as asking applicants to friend human resource managers or to log in to a company computer during an interview. Once employed, some workers have been required to sign non-disparagement agreements that ban them from talking negatively about an employer on social media.?
After reading something like this I am appalled that some companies would go to these lengths to learn about perspective employees.? Especially in this job market where there are plenty of well qualified people looking for work.?? You want to learn about someone, ask them questions, watch how they answer, look for visual tells, things like that.? Don?t try to invade people?s privacy by getting them to log on Facebook and snag their password.
Everyone knows the hottest item out on the market today is the new iPad but what if I told you the product itself can get really hot?? Well some tests being conducted by diligent companies like Consumer Reports have found the new iPad runs hot.? Around 116 degrees while running games.? This iPad 2 ran 13 degrees less, so around 103 degrees.? So the tests that consumer reports ran show a consistency in the heat increase vs. the older iPad.? The range of heat was between 113 and 116 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on if the iPad was plugged in or not.? They also found out while doing the test the iPad would not charge while playing a game but once they exited the game it would start to charge normally.? The conditions of the test were as follows, the iPad had a Smart Cover that had the iPad propped up, they had 4G off but did have wi-fi on, It was in a room that was around 72 degrees (for the record Apple suggests that you use your iPad in environments that are not over 95 degrees.) Finally they let the game Infinity Blade 2 play for around 45 minutes.? So there you have it, the new iPad runs hot but not unbearable.? Even at the hottest temperature the iPad was still handled with ease for a short time of course.
Apple announced yesterday that they have sold over 3 million new iPads in just under 5 days.? Apple has given the name of the launch calling it the ?strongest iPad launch yet.?? This is interesting that the iPad numbers are being released so quickly, when the iPad 2 launched Apple did not give out the numbers but also let?s not forget the iPad 2 launch had a very limited supply and demand was hard to meet and to go back even further it took 28 days for the first iPad to strike its first million sold.? It is no surprise that the iPad sales have gone up over the years.? It is also interesting that the new iPad actually was able to hold its own over the weekend and actually keep up with the demand.? As stated in my earlier blogs there was concern that demand might not be met for the newly awaited iPad.? With the major success it has had in under a week I can finally say those rumors were obviously wrong.
A source from the Verge has found out that Lenovo is looking to be the first to market Windows 8 tablet.? There has been some speculation that Dell will be the first as Michael Dell himself stated that there would be an enterprise tablet out there for customers the day Windows 8 ships.? But this Lenovo tablet has been said to have an Intel chip, and possible 13.3 inch screen.? At CES there was a Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga which is pictured above.?? This actually has an attached keyboard that has a 360 degree hinge so you can flip the machine around into a laptop.? But as the battle rages on in the Windows 8 tablet scene there is other competition out there, including HP, Asus and even Nokia.? October is the set time frame for a Windows 8 OS launch and I have to wonder if the Dell will make good on their promise to be first to market or if Lenovo will slip in to be first to market.? My thoughts are they probably both will launch on the same day.
You would think with the 4G speeds being so much faster than 3G that a simple task as video to video chat.? Well it looks like the Verge has found out some interesting facts about what the New iPad is unable to do.? While the 4G LTE will give you faster download and upload speeds the Facetime video chat will not work on a 4G network.?? As you can see above the Verge shows this being tried on the Verizon 4G LTE network and them getting the message to attach to a wi-fi network to get the Facetime working.? Funny enough back in 2010 Steve Jobs did say Facetime would be wifi only but that was in 2010 and it said that because he knew that cell networks needed to get ready for the future and well wouldn?t you think the future is LTE?? Suppose not since you are still unable to do it.? So I am sorry to say but you are still relegated to Facetime via wifi for the foreseeable future.
