Today’s blog is going to be informative on a helpful level instead of my normal news level. The iOS5 if you didn’t know it has a feature much like the Android OS in which you can have a bar to choose your words. This information I learned courtesy of 9to5Mac so I trust the what needs to be done here and the picture above is what you will see when typing out your next text message.
1. Download iBackupBot
2. Backup your iPhone/iPod in iTunes
3. Open iBackupBot and find the backup, then load it.
4. Find Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboard.plist and open the file. (if your software isn?t registered you?ll have to press cancel and then it will open)
5. Add in the following code: KeyboardAutocorrectionListsYES
6. Save your modifications, and then restore from backup from within iBackupbot.
There have been rumors that Apple has allegedly given the official word that Siri will not be on older iOS devices. There could be a possibility of this down the road but the outlook is doubtful. An article I read on this situation had some interesting information to add. iPhone 4 Users and iPod touch 4th generation users pay a fee of 19.99 to upgrade to a ?special? build of iOS 5.0.1 with Siri Final in it, (To avoid hackers hacking Siri onto non 4S devices illegally) **Many iPhone 4 Users and iPod touch 4th generation Users will pay for this special iOS build (5.0.1) which will enable Siri for a fee of $19.99 US dollars. Apple had this to say in response. Engineering has provided the following feedback regarding this issue:
Siri only works on iPhone 4S and we currently have no plans to support older devices.
So there you have it Apple is squashing any rumors of Siri going to any other older platforms. Sorry iPhone 4 users.
Thanks to Droid Life we have the first pictures of the Droid 4 and a nice breakdown of the specs which is below.
The DROID4 by Motorola is coming and according to our sources, has the best slideout they have ?ever seen on a smartphone.? You asked for it and Moto appears to have made it.
Spec breakdown:
? 4? screen (assuming Super AMOLED Advanced)
? Full 5-row ?illuminated? keyboard
? RAZR styling
? 4G LTE
? Non-removable battery
? Android 2.3.5
? 1080p video recording (assuming 8MP)
? Front camera
? HDMI out
? MotoACTV syncing
No word yet on processor, but will bet that it has at least the 1.2GHz OMAP4430 that the RAZR has. Would not doubt it if it had something newer though. Haven?t heard of a release time line ? all others in the DROID keyboard series seem to be getting the summer treatment. However, this phone looks like it might be done.
Tablets are getting more and more competitive these days. It seems like when Apple puts their foot into something everyone wants to step on their feet with something better and most will say none have been able to do it. Well this tablet will not do it either but it will give people an affordable option. It looks as if View Sonic is rolling out a $200 ViewPad 7e Android tablet. This will only give you Android 2.3 and not Honeycomb but for the price specs are decent 1GHz ARM A8 processor, dual cameras, a “RiteTouch” 7-inch capacitive display, 4GB of storage with a microSD card slot for expansion, and HDMI output. As is often the case with low-end tablets, however, one key omission is official support for the Android Market, but you do at least get access to Amazon’s Appstore, as well as plenty of pre-loaded apps including Twitter, Kindle, and TuneIn Radio.
Andy Rubin the Chief of Android thinks phones have the potential to be a more of a useful companion to you but doesn’t want to turn the Android devices into personal assistants like Apple has done. ?I don?t believe that your phone should be an assistant,? the Android chief said in an interview on Wednesday just after appearing on stage at AsiaD. ?Your phone is a tool for communicating. You shouldn?t be communicating with the phone; you should be communicating with somebody on the other side of the phone.?
Although millions and millions of people have purchased an iPhone 4S which had a major selling point of Siri which is the voice-controlled assistant.
?To some degree it is natural for you to talk to your phone,? Rubin said, but historically that has meant talking to another person. As for talking to your phone without actually trying to connect to another person, Rubin says he?s not so sure. ?We?ll see how pervasive it gets.?
So it has been announced by Apple the iPhone 4S has reached huge sales figures for the 4S. Four million strong sold over the weekend. It has also been reported that over 25 million customers are using the iOS 5 on their Apple products and over 20 million people have already signed up for the iCloud. These are stagering numbers for Apples new products and just goes to show you how big Apple has really become. From the iPhone 4S to the iPad 2, millions and millions of people are using Apple products and the number seems to be growing at a rapid pace. This is by far a good sign for Apple espcially after loosing a visonary like Steve Jobs, the company needs to hang its hat on these products and it looks like so far that has been a success.
