Dropbox updates in iOS add nice updates

So for those who like to use cloud storage such as dropbox you are in for a treat if you use it through your iPhone or iPad. One of the biggest things to go to it is automatic photo and video uploads. Now for those who feel like knowing this has been a feature on your Android for sometime now. So here is a small example of Android getting ahead of the game with the developers. However one of the coolest features is bonus free storage. Now you can get a bonus of 3GB of free storage that will be given in 500mb increments so of you set up your drop box for your iOS to do auto uploads of photos and videos you can rock out with more data and who doesn’t love more storage data. So it looks like dropbox is making a big push on the photo and video storage side.

Siri coming to cars?

Steve Jobs had a dream. The dream of an icar. Well we are still far far away from a day like that many car companies are talking with Apple to possibly integrate the lovely Siri to cars from BMW, GM, Mercedes and Jaguar but integrating her to the steering wheels of the cars. At the WWDC keynote on Monday the SVP Scott Forstall showed off many ways in which the Apple planned on uniting mobile phones and automobiles with turn by turn navigation. Also stated that Siri will be integrated into cars in the coming year. Mercedes-Benz has already developed an application for the iPhone that allows the user to connect to the car using MBrace. Donna Boland a US spokesperson for Benz had this to say, “We’re going to be taking it a step further by allowing iPhone users to plug their iPhone into the car and access a Mercedes-Benz app that will then take over the screen,” Boland adds. “It’ll allow navigation, Facebook–whatever is on your iPhone; that includes if you have an iPhone 4S or higher with Siri, then you’ll have Siri in the vehicle as well.” The biggest thing is there are already buttons for certain cars for things like onstar so the concept is not uncommon when it comes to this type of technology. The biggest question will be if this button will be an apple only button or will be integrated to any type of phone, only time will tell.

MacBook Pro with the Retina display will ship in 2-3 weeks

At the Worldwide Developers Conference the Apple?s MacBook Pro with the Retina display blew people away. If you go to Apple?s site you will see that the MacBook Pro with Retina display is listed as shipping in two to three weeks. Also during the presentation Phil Schiller, Apple?s senior vice president of worldwide marketing did say they would ship immediately. So we are not really sure on what the delay actually is on these new MacBook Pro?s. Most likely the initial offering of these laptops has sold out they had to modify the shipping due to production.

Here are the stats on this lovely machine:
Apple’s MacBook Pro with Retina display delivers 5.1 million pixels packed into the 15.4-inch screen. The $2,199 model offers a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor and 8GB of memory. That version has 256GB of flash storage. The $2,799 version of the notebook bumps the processor to the 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, and includes 512GB of flash storage. Both models are said to offer seven hours of battery life.

New software from Apple shows them veering away from Google

So far at the Apple developers conference there has been no real surprises to come out of it yet although they have shown some software that indicates they are distancing itself from Google. Apple has created their own mapping and navigation software that will replace the Google Maps on all iPhones and iPads. They have also struck a deal with Facebook to have integrated services built in.

“More than 75% of our customers checked the top box, very satisfied, compared to less than 50% for the competition,” Scott Forstall said, referring to Android. Even Siri, who welcomed the crowd with a light-hearted video intro, took aim. Among her first jokes was a jab at Android’s different version names, which are desserts. “Hey, any of you guys been working with Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean? Who’s been making up these code names, Ben and Jerry?” Siri said.

The world of Social Networking revealed

The world of Social Networking revealed

Every year the usage of social networking is revealed around the world.? Vincenzo Cosenza is a social media strategist who updates this map twice a year.? This happens on December and June and the numbers are not surprising although there are two countries that don’t have Facebook in the top spot.? That would be China and Russia.? As a matter of fact China is the only country that doesn’t have Facebook in their top 3 social networking sites.? So there are some powerful numbers in here including the fact Facebook?s biggest following is not in the North America.? In fact Europe holds the top spot with 232 million users, North America behind them with 222 million users and Asia coming in at 219 million.? So what are your thoughts on the world of social media and the Facebook dominance?

Apple agree to settle in Australia

Apple agree to settle in Australia

In this society it is not uncommon for large companies to get sued. Well in this case Apple was going to be sued but decided it would be in their best interests to settle for around $2.25 million to end the case that accuses the company of misleading the Australian public over the 4G of the new iPad in that country. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will be the ones receiving the money as they brought the charges up in March. It was said that Apple deliberately advertised the 5G compatibility despite knowing that the third- gen tablet wasn?t supporting LTE networks in that country. Although the judge in the case has not given the final approval on the settlement but it is expected to happen. Apple in May did announce that it would provide refunds to any customer that felt misled by the advertisements and marketing. Apple tried to save face by doing this but it wasn?t enough for the ACCC to drop the charges against the company. So with that in tow the Apple corporation has decided to settle versus going through a long drawn out court battle in which they most likely would have lost.
