In this litigious society we see many law suits come very many different angles. One of the biggest law suits has to deal with Samsung and Apple. Apple has been suing Samsung on many patent issues and is looking for some major damages. It looks as if the two sides are willing to speak on the situation and try to find out if they can come to some agreement. It would seem that on Monday the CEO?s of Apple and Samsung did speak and their lawyers will be reporting to Judge Koh in Federal court to go over the outcomes of the discussion. Although it seems that both parties are seeking damages. Samsung is seeking around $399 million in royalties from Apple for infringing on its patents according to testimony from the court. Apple stated that Samsung owed it $2.5 billion to $2.75 billion in damages. So it will be interesting to see what the phone call entailed.

With the Surface tablet coming to be the next big tablet, the market research company IDC has stated that Microsoft is expected to produce a little over 3 million surface tablets. The plans are to have a few million in the calendar year of 2012 which would be a combination of x86 and ARM versions. IDC is also stating that it plans on making a cheaper version of the tablet running about $199 to go up against the Kindle Fire and Nook tablets already on the market. There is also a speculation of a possible subscription that would also get you a surface tablet. So it seems you can buy it out right or get it on a subscription just like what Microsoft was doing with the Xbox 360. So this would not be uncommon for Microsoft to do such a thing. So based on the market research company if Microsoft decides to go this way I would expect that they could actually sell a lot of these tablets especially if they do a subscription plan.

Groupon has been having a tough few months and well the issues continue with a poor earnings report for the second quarter. The stock hit a low of $5.95 a share after Groupon announced $568.3 million in revenue, when Wall Street expected $573.13 million. The company blamed European performance for much of this quarter?s troubles but had trouble convincing investors that it otherwise had a ?strong quarter.? Groupon is looking to rebound from this but there are no new strategies that have been announced to combat such a loss. They may have to change their model a bit to open the groupons up to other businesses. Like computer repair for example. We have tried to do something with Groupon and even Living Social. One of the biggest competitors for Groupon. Granted our service is the direct type of market they go after but keys be honest if you are trying to grow revenue streams you have to at least be open to something like using different businesses for groupons.

The major torrent site Demonoid looks like it will not be coming back to the internet world. Well at least not in its former glory. About 2 weeks ago the torrent site was ddos and hacked. After getting hammered the site was raised by police. So all of the people who love demonoid had hoped that this site will be back up and running in about a month or so but now it looks like the urls are actually for sale. Now none of these have been sold and I doubt it wil be sold at least not for the foreseeable future depending on what happens with the police investigation. But none the less this is a major blow to one of the biggest torrent sites in the world.
