Burger King Ad, Google Home, Wikipedia Don’t Mix

Burger King Ad, Google Home, Wikipedia Don’t Mix

Anyone running any business, including computer repair and specializing in laptops fixed, know how important advertising is. In fact, our Boston computer service shop focuses on advertising often. But one Burger King Ad might drop the ball. This proves that a Burger King ad, Google Home, Wikipedia don’t mix.

The commercial is 15 seconds long. But that’s about the only thing it got right. A man tries to describe the Whopper sandwich. But he can’t. So he tells you to ask Google Home to describe it for you. However, this is where things get complex. People will go ask Google what a Whopper or whopper sandwich is. Your answers will be fairly different.

That’s because Google Home’s answer depends on Wikipedia. Anybody can edit the answer quick. They often do. However, if one asks Google Home what the Whopper is, you’ll get a perfect description of Burger King’s signature burger. In fact, the description sounds a little too perfect. It almost sounds like something out of Burger King ad itself. Some suggests Burger King edited Wikipedia just for this commercial. So the consumer watches the commercial. Then, he/she asks Google Home, “What is a Whopper?” The consumer gets a perfect description. Therefore, the consumer will be so hungry, he rushes to Burger King and get a Whopper, maybe even the combo. Pretty sneaky, Burger King ad.

Well, in the past 24 hours, another twist came up. Google stopped Home from responding to, “What is a Whopper?” Furthermore, Wikipedia it’s Whopper page to it’s pre-commercial state. But you know Burger King could easily change it back, right? Plus, the commercial already gets major buzz. And is shows us the power devices like Google Home have over us already. As they get more popular, I expect such devices to only gain their power. But what do you think of this Burger King ad? Was it cleaver advertising or an underhanded trick?

Nintendo Classic Sells Like Hotcakes

Nintendo Classic Sells Like Hotcakes

Here in our Boston computer service shop gaming is a common topic. But what do we think when it comes to?2010s gaming? Do we think of Xbox, Playstation, or AI technology? Well then, have you thought of purchasing a Nintendo classic, like the ones we had in the 1980s? You’re not alone. Nintendo classic sells like hotcakes.

In fact, if you’re planning to get one on the cheap, then pack some patience. Because chances are you’re not getting one anytime soon, as in this year! Believe it or not. This was one of the hottest selling tech gadgets last year. Furthermore, sales show no signs of slowing down. In fact, from malls to Walmart’s (I don’t encourage Walmart shopping ever!) to electronic stores, it’s often sold out. Because it’s that popular.

Amazon sellers take advantage of this opportunity. Amazon sellers are offering the Nintendo classic for as low as $90. They were going for as low as $60, but those days are over. But this is still a good bargain. However, beware of frauds and scammers out there. They do exist, even on Amazon. Check the seller’s reviews and ratings thoroughly. Also, check and see if they actually have them. If they say ‘just launched’, avoid it! It’s likely a scam. Many of these sellers also offer classic games like Zelda, Super Mario Brothers, and Double Dragon.

So why talk about Nintendo on a tech website? Because tech and gaming have gone hand in hand, almost from the beginning. And why is this 1980s console so popular in the 2010s? Maybe because it’s simple. I sometimes play Xbox with friends. It very difficult to set up. It’s even more time consuming when a friend who moved to Alabama requests to jump in your Halo game. I digress. With Nintendo, just blow into the cartridge a little, plug the set, turn on the set, and you have your game. Furthermore, there’s the nostalgia factor. Many of us in computer repair and IT support grew up in this era. So when we turn on Nintendo classic, we turn on a piece of childhood or adolescence. ?Why do you think Nintendo classics sale out so quickly?

Facebook TV: Social Media Couch Potatoes Rejoice!

Facebook TV: Social Media Couch Potatoes Rejoice!

So you can’t get enough social media? You can’t get enough TV, either? However, Facebook can help. Introducing Facebook TV: Social media couch potatoes rejoice!

Facebook came up with the new app this week. Facebook TV will include Apple TV, Amazon Fire and Samsung TV. Hence, with this new app, you can watch this TV, as well as Facebook videos, on the big screen. Facebook leaders explained the new app at this year’s Code Media conference. Someone explained they can use this app to watch Facebook videos on the big screen at anytime. But that won’t be the only use.

Last year, Facebook users watch watched over 100 million hours worth of videos. So some potential and interest are there. But there is still debate about making Facebook TV profitable. While I write this, the company is testing out video ads. Like You Tube, Facebook TV will suggests videos for the user, according to his/her profile. You can also save videos and watch them on other devices later. For instance, you can’t watch that TV-MA or TV-14 show at the office or at school or in front of little kids. Just save it and watch it during your own private time. We don’t know the date of Facebook TV’s release. But they assure us it will be soon and free for Facebook subscribers.

You see, social media, IT support and entertainment are going hand in hand. What we used to see only on TV can now be seen everywhere, from tablets to laptops. Hint…hint…if you need a screen replacement or laptops fixed in Boston, we got you covered. But you see how Facebook is expanding. Also, I like how they’re merging with other TV app corporations. To be successful, they will need to. There’s a lot of competition out there, especially from You Tube and other streaming services. So if Apple TV and Amazon Fire sets them apart from the competition, good! That’s the only shot Facebook has. Do you think Facebook TV will be able to survive?

Smartwatch For Gamers: It’s Here.

Smartwatch For Gamers: It’s Here.

There are many smartwatches out there. They use many to tell our physical fitness activities, like heart rate monitor and number of steps. But what about smartwatch for gamers: It’s here.

So there is a company Gameband. This company leads the smartwatch for gamers. Gameband already brags about having the fastest processor in the world. They also claim to have exceptional Bluettoth 4.2, Android OS, and a series of apps. Furthermore, Gameband’s Micro SD capability provides fuel for games. Play these games on your smartwatch. Also, you can connect the smartwatch to your computer with a USC-B cable. That way, you can play your favorite game on your laptop. You do know our Boston techs specialize in laptops fixed?

So, these are smartwatch for gamers. But what games can we expect? Gameband is teaming up with Atari, one of the first popular home games from the early 1980s. They’re bringing back games like ‘Pong’, ‘Centipede’, and ‘Asteroids’, ‘Breakout’, and ‘Crystal Castles’. These smartwatch for gamers are already made. But expect deliveries around September 2017. Some of these watches should start at $99. Too bad those sold out. But you can still order them for as low as $149. But you better hurry. Because those will sell out soon. Next thing you know, you’ll have to pay full price, which is $199.

I like the price, for what you’re going to get. ?I like the technology and the support that comes with it. But I have a small problem with the variety. There needs to be more games. We’re talking smartwatch for gamers, here. The least thing Atari and Gameband can do is add Pac-Man. That’s probably the most successful game franchise of all-time. They could at least include Pac-Man. And what about classics like Donkey Kong, Frogger, and Q-Bert? It they’re going old-school, then why not include those? People in IT support are, many of them, huge gamers. Even those who weren’t born until the 1990s know about Pac-Man and Frogger. So why not include them? I have an even better idea. Why not team up with Nintendo and put Super Mario Bros. and Zelda in your lineup?

XBox One Dashboard: Can Microsoft Rebuild?

XBox One Dashboard: Can Microsoft Rebuild?

Xbox One Dasboard is a software system for Microsoft’s video game console. But they’re not quite happy with the current results. XBox One Dashboard: Can Microsoft rebuild?

So they want to make Dashboard faster. An XBox leading engineer said basic tasks will be faster. They’re also adding a new button. This button will be part of the guide section. So it switches between apps and games. However, this new button does so without going back to Dashboard’s home. So that’s one less distraction as you’re going from one video game to another, or from one app to another.

This one move can speed up Xbox One dashboard. There are quite a few complaints of slowdowns, especially in this area. But with this new guide and new button, this quicker method could replace the old one altogether. That will be good news for many XBox One players. Some game experts say this will bring Xbox One a lot closer to it’s predecessor, XBox 360. But the leading engineer, Mike Ybarra, is only saying so much about this. But wait…there’s more. Microsoft is also redoing their game tracking, scoreboards, and coming up with a new Cortana system. ?They will test the XBox One dashboard for a little while. Microsofts wants to send it to your console in spring 2017.

This will make a lot of people in computer repair happy. Here in our Boston computer service shop, many techs and customers own an XBox One. They like having it, but there are complaints of slow service. Hopefully, this will hasten the Xbox One experience. Don’t get me wrong. They love their consoles, but they don’t want this slowdown problem either. Plus, Microsoft has competition. For example, Nintendo products are getting hot again. Do they really want to lose gamers to Nintendo? But what do you think? Will the new XBox One Dashboard improve the XBox One?

CES Stars: Drones

CES Stars: Drones

Techies and those in IT support and computer repair?flock to Las Vegas right now. But the gambling, buffets and partying isn’t what’s bringing them. It’s the annual Consumer Technology Association Conference (CES). However, one device steals the show. It’s not the smartphone. So here are the CES stars: drones.

Hence, let me introduce you to the CES stars: drones. First, there are selfie drones. They weigh under a pound. But they still carry 12 or 13 pixel megapixel cameras. Though they fold and are easy to carry; their battery lives are only 10 minutes a turn. Their software bundle is more than enough to do the job (or so they say). The drone name is Hover Camera Passport. It costs around $600. Then there is the aquatic PowerVision PowerRay. Fisherman throw it from their boat, because it ‘s compatible with a cable tether. The light attracts fish and lasts four hours without charging. But this one doesn’t come cheap. It costs around $1,500.

There are more CES stars: drones. ?Who doesn’t like Star Wars? So, there’s a Star Wars drone for your entertainment. They cost just around $200. It also has lasers and sensors. You can combat with other drones Luke Skywalker style. Then there’s the Ehang 184. This drones flies you! That’s not a typo. This Chinese based drone can fly you on short distances. Here is their website. But I almost forgot…the Ehang 184 will run you $300,000. So start saving up.

Those are the main CES stars: drones. It looks like a good cast of characters, doesn’t it? I’m especially curious about Ehang 184. We’ve all seen the Jetsons and Futurama. People commute by air. That’s a dream of all of ours, isn’t it? We all get tired of the gridlock and tempers on the road. How wonderful would it be just to get on a drone and fly to our destination? Could Ehang 184 be onto something? Could this CES stars: drones be the real star of the show, and the future?
