So reports that I have read state that the New iPad has already sold out on its preorders. Which now will put this device in even greater demand. As of now the Apple website has a March 19th ship date for the online orders and the limit on those is two per customer. So it looks like if you want to get one on March 16th you would have to get to one of the physical stores and to make an even bigger problem, Apple states that the item will be available come this Friday but some reports are saying that some shipments can be delayed from three days up to three weeks. If these shipping reports are true, this could mean disaster for Apple and would have to ask the question What would Steve Jobs do? The first major item to launch in the post Steve Jobs era might not even hit the market on time? That is just inefficient and would have Jobs rolling in his grave. So for Apple’s sake let’s hope these unconfirmed reports don’t become confirmed or else there are going to be a lot of angry customers waiting at retailers doors.

Netflix has been throwing out some pitches to cable companies to bundle it’s streaming video package with the bundles. It looks like Comcast has declined the offer. Comcast has actually been doing a trial with TiVo in the San Francisco’s market to see if they would buy a TiVo premiere DVR access to the Xfinity ON Demand library without the use of a cable set top box. With Comcast off the market that still leaves a few other companies that might be interested like Verizon or Cox Communications. Although the biggest issue with bundling the streaming service from Netflix is the fact that all of these cable companies have an on-demand service. So with the streaming services already set up from these companies there is no real reason for companies like Comcast to make a partnership with them. It looks like this TiVo DVR test that Comcast is doing which makes more sense because it is giving a Comcast product to the consumers that have a TiVo DVR, so you are able to access the content of Comcast.

There is has been plenty of rumors and speculation regarding the next new Xbox, one interesting report, is the Microsoft was going to do away with used games. Meaning if you want to own a game you’re going to have to buy it new. Now there was speculation that the disc would have special coding on it that would attach to your profile but now there is a report from the MCV website that Microsoft has been reported the next version of its Xbox will not feature a disc drive at all. Leading many to believe in the video game world that Microsoft will be giving us the ability to digitally download these games, but I feel that to do this they are going to have to gear up on bandwidth. Could you imagine hundreds of thousands of people downloading the newest Halo at 12:01 AM on launch vs. people waiting outside of a video game store for the product? Also then we have to look at the impact this would have on the retail industry. Would they sell the games like they sell the digital content? With code cards that you input into the Xbox? If that be the case why would anyone want to even think of going out to buy these cards when they can easily download it from the comfort of the couch. Outside of people who don’t have a credit card and use cash only, but at this stage that is most likely the minority. There are rumors that the console would be revealed at this year’s E3 which Microsoft did squash. Though the system is rumored for 2013 launch.

From what I have read the hacking group LulzSec was brought down by funny enough its own leader. It has been reported that police on two continents took out top members of the group which was acted upon due to evidence given by the leader of the group who has been reportedly working with the government for months. Hector Xavier Monseur also known as Sabu is 28 years old and a father of 2 children lead the LulzSec group. So it looks like to get a better deal he decided to turn on his own kind to save himself. The interesting part about this is the fact a leader of a group was willing to turn everyone of the members in that were of worth, which makes me wonder what other hacking groups would be so fast to turn on their kin. Hackers do tons of things for different reasons and I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that a hacker turned on their own, I just didn’t expect it to be a leader. Maybe a low level guy who worked his way up but the leader? That just makes me feel like it takes the law just one person to be arrested for a whole organization to go down. I can understand why Sabu would turn on his own, he had two kids, and needs to make sure they are cared for I suppose, at least that is why I would think he would turn in his own members.

In this world of streaming videos and movies we have so many choices, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime and there is a new player in the mix that has ruffled some feathers. Aereo a new streaming service that was going to be a cloud based TB service that streams over the air channels to internet devices just for $12 a month but this week we found that some broadcasters are not to happy with this service and have filed a lawsuit to have the service shut down which by all accounts is suppose to go live March 14th. A few of the companies filling this suit, Fox, Univision and PBS just to name a few. Aereo’s idea is to take over the air signals which is free to anyone let them watch them through any internet connected device. The idea is simple : Live Broadcast TV, meet the Internet. Finally. With Aereo you can now watch live, broadcast television online. On devices you already have. No cable required. Aereo not as simple as you might have thought. I will be following this case closely.

As you have read by now Apple is planning on show off the new Apple TV on March 7th along with the iPad 3 or iPad HD whatever Apple is going to call it. Well there has been some news that Apple is working on some deals right now to have a streaming service by Christmas. It looks like Apple has actually been in negotiations with content providers and from reports has actually made very little head way on those negotiations. The core idea of this streaming services would be to make the channels as apps and right now the service cost is unclear, but there are thoughts of having a monthly fee like a cable TV provider or doing an a la carte basis. Apple does offer the ability to download TV shows now but they really want streaming video. Apple has tried this before back in 2009 but was unsuccessful mainly due to the fact that Apple wanted to do a share in ad revenue instead of paying a distribution fee like other streaming video services such as Netflix. Knowing Apple I am sure they have learned from that mistake but I wouldn’t put it past them to try to find another way around paying distribution fees. With Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, it just seems like the market is getting flooded with streaming video providers. The real question is what will Apple do to set themselves apart from the rest.

As you have read if you keep up with my blog you know March 7th is fast approaching and with it brings a sense of joy and excitement for anyone who loves to get their hands on new Apple products. Well it has been brought to my attention that there will be 2 Apple iPad 3 models, a 16 GB version and a 32 GB version. Apple is also going to add to the iPad madness by releasing an 8GB iPad 2 which no doubt has been made to target the lower priced tablets and of course the Windows 8 tablets that will be coming soon. Based upon what I have read so far on the iPad 3 it will have a 9.7 inch Full HD QXGA panel with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 which should be crystal clear. I am very excited to see what else will come with the iPad 3, well we are only less than a week away from it so keep your fingers crossed for some more information in the coming days before the March 7th date.

If you are an avid follower of my blog you would have seen last month that I reported a March 7th announcement for the iPad 3 from Apple. Well it looks like the iPad is going to have share some of the spotlight. Some sources that are familiar with the Apple product announcements have also said that they will be launching the Apple TV as well. The Apple TV is suppose to have a very fast processor which most are reporting a variation of the dual core A5 processor which from all accounts be needed for the TB to stream 1080p video but there is also some speculation of a new A5X chip which is similar to the A5 but will have a better graphics engine. Some other fun rumors to play around with is that it will have a Bluetooth 5.0 remote and even Siri support. So it looks like some of the steam is taken out of the iPads sails with the possible announcement of the Apple TV, but will this TV be good? Has Apple finally figured out how to get into this TV business where they have to be able to put a firm grip on like they have with so many other products? Only time will tell.
