The Antivirus icon John McAfee is on the run from murder charges, says Belize police. Marco Vidal, head of the national police force’s Gang Suppression Unit , McAfee is a prime suspect in the murder of American expatriate Gregory Faull, who was gunned down Saturday night at his home in San Pedro Town on the island of Ambergris Caye.
Details remain light at the moment, but some residents are stating that Faull was a well-liked builder who hailed originally from California. The two men had been arguing for some time. Last Wednesday, Faull filed a formal complaint against McAfee with the mayor’s office, stating that McAfee had fired off guns and exhibited “roguish behavior.” Their final disagreement reportedly involved dogs.
Here is a statement from the police department:
“On Sunday the 11th November, 2012 at 8:00am acting upon information received, San Pedro Police visited 5 ? miles North of San Pedro Town where they saw 52 year old U.S National Mr. GREGORY VIANT FAULL, of the said address, lying face up in a pool of blood with an apparent gunshot wound on the upper rear part of his head apparently dead. No signs of forced entry was seen, A (1) laptop computer brand and serial number unknown and (1) I-Phone was discovered missing. The body was found in the hall of the upper flat of the house. A single luger brand 9 mm expended shells was found at the first stairs leading up to the upper flat of the building. The body of Faull was taken to KHMH Morgue where it awaits a Post Mortem Examination. Police have not established a motive so far but are following several leads.”
CBS news has reported which you can watch in the video above that some US Navy SEAL that were part of the elite operations and are well known for the elimination of Osama bin Laden are now being disciplined for revealing secrets. Seal team six became paid consultants on a recently released video game, Medal of Honor. It is truly unclear what actual secrets are actually released. I guess you would have to play the game and see the tactics used in the game to really figure it all out.
Microsoft has presented a huge step in the voice recognition area.? The video above says it all.? The machine not only will understand your words but will also translate them.? Now that is very nice but what was very amazing was how it translated the voice to the voice and pitch of the language it is translating too.? So in this case we are looking at English to Chinese.? Very impressive.??? If you would like to see the translation part of it skip to around the 6:30/7 minute mark.
A report released by the market research and consulting firm Strategy Analytics has found that the Samsung Galaxy SIII is the world?s best selling smartphone in the Q3 of 2012.? The numbers show that the SIII has sold 18 million units in Q3 and the iPhone 4S only sold 16.2 million.? Close to be sure, what was even closer is the global share of the smartphone market with the SIII having 10.7% and the 4S at 9.7%.? Now granted this is a big step for the SIII however it is downplayed a bit by the fact that the 4S had competition from its newest member to the iPhone family the 5.? Which sold 6 million units with a global share of 3.6%.? Now the question really comes down to can the SIII hold the spot in Q4 with the iPhone 5 picking up speed?? We shall find out in a few months.
If you have an iPhone and have Siri and have always wondered why you could never buy movie tickets before. Well because they just never programed it, well until now. In the 6.1 iOS update coming soon you can now ask Siri to buy movie tickets. Now what Siri will actually do is send you the the app Fandango. And if you dont have the app Sure will send you to download it. This will only be available in the US at launch and others to follow shortly for sure.
A few months back it was a bold statement made by Steve Ballmer the CEO of Microsoft? that a year from now between the Windows phone, tablets and PC?s that they will be close to 400 million new devices that will be running those new OS.? Right now Microsoft is at 1% of that goal.? Since Windows 8 has come to pass just over four million Windows 8 upgrades have been sold since last Friday.? This is a promising start but let?s remember that only ?175 million copies of Windows 7 sold within the first year on the market.? Now granted 7 wasn?t on mobile phones but I doubt that the phone market will make up the other 225 million needed to hit the 400 million mark.? So there is still a tall mountain to climb.
Amazon has taken a strong offensive to the iPad mini release.? They have released a comparison of the new Kindle Fire HD and how much better it is than the mini for a significantly lower price.? The Amazon website shows that the Fire HD is being sold for $199 and is being compared to the mini which is being sold for $329.? Amazon then shows why the HD is better and even puts a quote from the site Gizmodo on how much Hubertus Apple actually has with releasing this mini at the price it has.? This comparison is noted above.? Enjoy!
Well as we all though the iPad Mini was announced to the world yesterday and of course in my opinion Apple priced it wrong.? I am going to give you a nice break down of the mini for you.? Bottom line for me is that they were $30 off of where they needed to be for at least me to feel great about buying one.? Maybe it is the stigma of being the same price as what they would say is a lesser product compared to the iPad.? Such as the Google Nexus or the Kindle Fire.? The breakdown is as follows:

Apple has actually confirmed that they will have a live video stream of its special launch event today.? This event will be on the Apple TV devices.? It has been about two years since Apple has had any event actually streamed live.? Above is a picture of what the app looks like and if you have the Apple TV you can stream the event live starting at 10AM PST.? Now this event is for most thoughts a launch of the iPad mini which is speculated to be around 7.85 inches and also along with that a strong emphasis on the iBooks applications which of course would go hand and hand with a new iPad mini.
On October 23rd at around 10AM PST time in San Jose, Apple will be making some announcements.? The real question is what will those announcements be?? Well most everyone has speculated that the biggest announcement will have to do with the introduction of another iPad to the mix.? This one being called the iPad mini.? Most people joke and say that the ipod touch is the ipad mini, but its not obviously.? The iPad mini will be more like the Kindle Fire in stature and hopefully in price as well.? Apple is not very big on the going cheap on price.? Most of their products price points are up there and for good reason.? Although Apple has finally seen a area of opportunity and they are going for it.? There is also some talk that iBooks will also be a big topic at this event as well.? It is no surprise that a iPad mini and iBooks would be in the same press conference, I mean they are making this to compete with the Kindle after all.
