Now There’s Another Steve Jobs Movie

Most of you know about the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic that was?scheduled to come out in April,?but will be released later due to marketing issues. ?You know Aston Kutcher portrays the role of Jobs in this movie. How many of are looking more forward to seeing iSteve?

That’s right: A comedy website called Funny or Die is bringing us a web spoof of the Apple founder and CEO called iSteve. It will be released in April 15 only on the Funny or Die website. It’s over an hour long, the longest production they’ve ever had. It’s a very humorous take based on light research. In?iSteve, Jobs?will be portrayed by? Justin Long, who starred in the 2004 Ben Stiller comedy hit Dodgeball. Funny or Die has brought us hilarious stuff before. Have you seen Zero Dark Thirty? The plot is as follows: Navy SEALS try to lure Bin Laden out with a puppy and pizza! If they’re brave enough to tackle?an issue?that sensitive, you know iSteve is going to be good.

If I had to choose between iSteve and Ashton Kutcher’s movie, I’d watch iSteve. I doubt I’ll even watch the ‘real’ biopic. I know there are some who will say this spoof is blasphemous. I say lighten up! Most of us already know about Steve Jobs and his many contributions to society. Most of us already know Jobs wasn’t perfect, to put it mildly! Plus, we all need to laugh in this day and age. And isn’t spoof a great form of flattery? Saturday Night Live has been doing it for almost 40 years. What would you rather see: a lighthearted online comedy or some tearjerker focused on Steve Jobs’ not so notable deeds?

Hotel rooms not as secure as you might think

If you go to a hotel with keycard locks make sure to run your fingers under the keycard lock outside your door. If you find a DC power port there, take note: With a few hacker tricks and a handful of cheap hardware, that tiny round hole might offer access to your room just as completely as your keycard. Scary right? Well a hacker has proven that this is truly the case.

At the Black Hat security conference Tuesday evening, a Mozilla software developer and 24-year old security researcher named Cody Brocious plans to present a pair of vulnerabilities he?s discovered in hotel room locks from the manufacturer Onity, whose devices are installed on the doors of between four and five million hotel rooms around the world according to the company?s figures. Using an open-source hardware gadget Brocious built for less than $50, he can insert a plug into that DC port and sometimes, albeit unreliably, open the lock in a matter of seconds. ?I plug it in, power it up, and the lock opens,? he says simply.

Think about that for a moment, in seconds someone could break into your hotel room. Granted you have to be very smart to create such a device but if he teaches to others it can be very dangerous also now what will happen with all of these locks? Wil hotels laugh at this and pay no attention or will the hotels decide to change their lock. I am sure they will not, looking at the cost of changing all locks in say a 500 room hotel vs. a slim chance that someone could hack the door locks. Plus the insurance will cover the break in and costs much less then changing the locks. Most likely a few hundred breakins would need to occur before they make the change.

E3 Hardware Breakdown Part 2

PSP Vita
Today I am focusing on the Playstation Vita which is the new handheld console of the Sony family. Looks like an original PSP with a touch screen to me. But is that all it really offers is a wonderful touch screen? So the cost of this will be $249 with wi-fi and $299 with 3G. 3G is going to be exclusive to AT&T it looks like so if want to use 3G you will have to hook up with their data plans like the iPad. So here are the main differences between the PSP and the new PS Vita:
? Advanced portable entertainment system
A high performance CPU / GPU combined with OLED enables rich, visually striking graphics never seen before on a portable entertainment system. PS Vita also adopts the Super Oval Design form factor, which fits comfortably in users’ hands.
? Revolutionary User Interface
A unique multi-touch pad on the rear, with the front touch display. Two cameras on it’s front and rear, as well as three motion sensors, gyroscope, accelerometer, and electronic compass.
? LiveArea?
Every game title for PS Vita will be provided with a space called “LiveArea?” where users can share the fun and excitement with other players.
? Location-based services
SCE will provide location-based services on PS Vita as part of the basic features utilizing PlayStation Network. The new application called “Near,” developed specifically for this service and the network, will be pre-installed in the system.
? Wi-Fi and 3G network connectivity
PS Vita is equipped with 3G in addition to Wi-Fi.
? Closely coordinated with PlayStation Suite
The newly developed and released game content for Android based portable devices can also be enjoyed on PS Vita.

Facebook trying to compete with Groupon and Amazon Local

Starting Tuesday, Facebook is releasing Deals as a ?test? in five cities: Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, San Diego and San Francisco. The company, which has more than 600 million members, said it hoped that its ability to tap directly into the communications and activities of networks of friends will help it offer a more compelling service than rivals. It will be easy to share deals with friends, see when a friend buys something and find offers that your friends are interested in, said Emily White, Facebook?s director for local. Facebook will focus on offers for things that are best done with friends, like concerts or events, she said.
?You can receive Facebook deals via e-mail,? she said. ?But if there is a deal that is good for you, it will likely show up in your news feed at some point in the day.?
Most of the sites you can get deals from let you link the deals to Facebook but this would be more of the actual site getting these deals as aposed to sharing via Groupon or Living Social. This is going to be another way for Facebook to increase revenue streams, with the movie rental testing seemingly going well, it is no doubt that if Facebook has the right amount of deals, people will pay for them.
