Everyone knows the hottest item out on the market today is the new iPad but what if I told you the product itself can get really hot?? Well some tests being conducted by diligent companies like Consumer Reports have found the new iPad runs hot.? Around 116 degrees while running games.? This iPad 2 ran 13 degrees less, so around 103 degrees.? So the tests that consumer reports ran show a consistency in the heat increase vs. the older iPad.? The range of heat was between 113 and 116 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on if the iPad was plugged in or not.? They also found out while doing the test the iPad would not charge while playing a game but once they exited the game it would start to charge normally.? The conditions of the test were as follows, the iPad had a Smart Cover that had the iPad propped up, they had 4G off but did have wi-fi on, It was in a room that was around 72 degrees (for the record Apple suggests that you use your iPad in environments that are not over 95 degrees.) Finally they let the game Infinity Blade 2 play for around 45 minutes.? So there you have it, the new iPad runs hot but not unbearable.? Even at the hottest temperature the iPad was still handled with ease for a short time of course.
